Eventful Horizon (2014 - Present)

This was my first attempt at making a video game. I was fascinated by Christopher Nolan's Gargantua in Interstellar and set out to make a real time black hole simulator with the same visual effects. At the center of the screen is the black hole with the signature gravitational lensing effect.  The user is able to rotate the camera around the black hole while shooting particles in it. Each particle has its own unique orbit which helps to educate the users about space and how orbits can occur on many different planes. This demo is currently installed at the Imaloa Astronomy Center in their CyberCANOE.
This is a converted version of Eventful Horizon on the HTC Vive. LAVA member Andrew Guagliardo was a huge help in making this user friendly and also beautiful. Here we are able to make use of the trackable controller. Users can project particles from any angle and also control the location of the black hole. Color choice and velocity freezing was added to the experience. This is an on going project.
