STRANGE ATTRACTORS

2016 - Although LAVA is under the computer science department we are literally located in the basement of the math building. Coincidentally I befriended a math professor who pointed out the Lorenz Attractor. A little bit of Google'n and I found that there are probably over a 100 of these attractors made up of three simple differential equations. Each set of equations help explain chaos theory in which small changes in initial conditions can have drastically different outcomes. Here I have visualized a few of my favorites in both Destiny and the HTC Vive. Unlike the traditional 2D attractor visualizations found in our books, users in Destiny can see the movement of each point in full 3D.
